TheColourFour I The probability of fusion

Edition: THE PROBABILITY OF FUSION

Artist: Michael Drennan

Context: Giclée work, 2025.

What has to come together for something to truly begin?

In astrophysics, The Probability of Fusion describes precisely that moment: when enough mass has accumulated for a star to ignite. Not before. Not by chance. But when the conditions are right. The motif captures this threshold, energy in formation, compression just before illumination.

A design about star formation. And about the question of when possibility becomes reality.

Michael Drennan comes from a background in the natural sciences and translates physical processes into distinct visual spaces that move between research and abstract composition.

This edition is produced after the pre-order period ends. Production begins on 1.3.

Based on Composition No. 64, “The Probability of Fusion” refers to a specific physical process: the formation of stars.

In the universe, matter gathers over vast stretches of time. Gravity pulls it inward. Pressure increases. Only once a critical threshold is reached does nuclear fusion begin. Energy is released. A star comes into being. This 'probability of fusion' is not a metaphor but a real condition. Without sufficient mass, everything remains dark. With the right constellation, it begins to shine.

The motif does not focus on the outcome, but on the transition, on compression, on the moment just before ignition. Grid, surface, and line exist in tension. Energy is not decorative; it is contained, concentrated.

Michael Drennan works at the intersection of natural science and printmaking. His pieces emerge from research and analysis. Physical concepts are not illustrated but translated into independent visual structures.

For REMÆR, the composition becomes a wearable edition. The question remains the same:
What has to come together for something to truly begin?

Care instructions

Care with heart.

Give your REMÆR shirt the love it was made with. Gentle care protects the environment and preserves the longevity of the print, the colours, and the fit - so it stays with you for a long time.

• Wash inside out and cold to protect colours, shape, and the planet.
• Small stains? Remove them by hand.
• For a freshness boost: place your shirt in the freezer, it neutralises odours naturally.
• Avoid the dryer, air drying is gentler.
• Ironing? Yes, but inside out.

Note:
Fabrics made from 100% cotton typically shrink by 3-5% during the first wash.

Your shirt carries art. Treat it like a favourite piece.
